Work happy 100: here are Ireland’s happiest workplaces
The wait is finally over, we can now reveal the winners of our Work Happy 100 awards.
Work Happy 100 is an awards series celebrating Ireland’s happiest workplaces, as nominated by their employees.
Created by careers marketplace Jobbio and Independent.ie the awards showcase companies that have gone above and beyond for their staff members. It champions the workplaces that offer their employees more than flashy perks or pointless benefits.
The Jameson Graduate Programme is well-renowned around the world. The company was crowned as our graduate winner thanks to their focus on Centennials’ need for autonomy and global travel. Speaking about the programme Sinéad D’Arcy, Jameson Graduate Programme Manager stated that, “We’re authentic, we’re creative, we’re innovative, we have what we call an entrepreneurial mindset. I think that’s what attracted Millennials and is now attracting Centennials to our brand.”
Small Business- Zahra Media Group
Zahra Media Group was founded by John Mullins and Gina Miltiadou in 2003. Located in Bray, Co.Wicklow the company promotes an open and flexible culture where respect goes both ways. John explains this further stating that, “Respect is earned here. It isn’t hierarchical, we make sure everyone is treated with respect and support whatever level they are.” The company is also dedicated to corporate social responsibility. So much so that 10pc of all their profits go to Zahra Helps, a registered Irish charity.
Workhuman (or Globoforce as it was previously known) is the world’s fastest-growing social recognition and continuous performance platform. As the name suggests, this company puts its people at the forefront of everything that they do. The culture at Workhuman is one of communication and support. Niamh Graham, Vice President, Global HR believes that this culture is key to their high staff retention: “The great thing about our culture is our employees feel like they can talk to us about what’s going on in their lives. When employees approach us for help we absolutely jump on that because what better way to show that we care.”
Founded in 2008, Airbnb has seen rapid expansion in the last decade. The company’s EMEA HQ is located in Dublin’s Grand Canal Dock and has quickly gained a reputation as one of the coolest places to work in the capital. The company focuses on four key values: Champion the Mission, Be a Host, Cereal Entrepreneur, Embrace the Adventure. Fiona Keane, European Recruitment Manager explains this further stating, “Our core values act as cultural tenets. When you interview for a role here, you interview against those values.”
