A 20-year-old woman who is raising her five younger siblings after they lost their parents to cancer has been gifted a new car.

A group of anonymous donors from their local community in Florida in the US bought the Nissan Versa for the family after hearing about their situation, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Samantha Rodriguez became the caretaker for her younger siblings after the death of their parents.

In a video posted to Twitter by the police force, Samantha thanked the contributors who had donated towards the cost of the car.

After being told about the gift, she said: “Wow, I’m in shock, guys.

“Thank you guys so much, you don’t know how much this means to us and it is such a big help.

“Doing everything on my own is very hard but I am so glad to have people like you guys in my life.”

A post on the police force’s Facebook page read: “20-year-old Samantha Rodriguez is an inspiration.

“After both of her parents died of cancer, she is the head of her family, raising her five younger siblings, ages seven to 15.”

Orange County Sheriff’s Office surprised the family with presents after inviting them for a tour of their Aviation Unit.
